Following on from last week’s post about ways to spice up your household chores, especially ironing, we are delighted to announce the ironing table super-stars who have won our recent Iron in Style competition.
Joanna Birkett, UK winner is presented with her prizes by Lee Montgomery, Brabantia’s field sales manager (right), and Richard Duddridge, manager (left), of her local Brabantia retailer, Lawsons of Plymouth.
The challenge set to designers, domestic goddesses or just those wanting to experiment in some creativity, was to design a fun cover for a Brabantia ironing table and we invited the public to vote for their favourite design simply by clicking on to the dedicated website: www.ironinstyle.co.uk. In total 73,000 visitors came to the site to vote for their favourite design.
Joanna Birkett from Plymouth saw off stiff competition from a number of other British contestants to take the top prize of Brabantia products worth £500. Her winning design secured 3,457 public votes online and featured a contrasting design of white elements inspired by nature against a warm red background.
Here’s a lowdown of the UK and Irish winners:
- Joanna Birkett – Plymouth, Devon
- Doreen Mulroy – Westport, County Mayo
- Ed Burdick – Pewsey, Wiltshire
- Callum Collie – Corby, Northamptonshire
- Adam Goddard – Seaton, Devon
- Victoria Slaymaker Isleworth, Middlesex
Gerda Elzenaar from The Netherlands was named the overall international winner securing a prize package of Brabantia products worth £1,500, and the satisfaction of seeing her winning spring-fresh blossom design go into production.
Commented Anne Slaats, communication manager of Brabantia: “With so many responses, we far exceeded the success of the first competition. People were very keen to submit their designs, and equally enthusiastic about voting. We hope that the winning international design, which goes into production next year, will make the task of ironing more enjoyable for a lot of people.
“We are absolutely delighted by the quality of the designs, and the enthusiasm to vote. The standard was again extremely high,” added Anne Slaats.
